What type of cards work with self-adhesive?
Cards that are too thick to personalise through a card printer, such as Clamshell or certain HID cards, temporary or cards you want to re-use to save money. Print and personalise the self-adhesive card through your card printer, peel off the backing paper, and then adhere to the proximity access control card. The adhesion is super strong, however don’t worry, if you need to use the proximity card for a different employee it’s easy enough to remove the old ID and replace with a new one.
What do thickness options 250, 320, 400 and 480 Micron mean?
Micron refers to the thickness of the card, a standard credit card is 760 micron, so without the backing paper, a 320 micron self-adhesive card is just under ½ the thickness. The backing paper is 175micon. The 250 micron being the thinnest self-adhesive card will offer the thinnest finish when adhered to proximity cards. It contains thicker Mylar® backing paper to ensure stability during printing, many printer manufacturers recommend this for best results.
It’s important to note that adhesive-backed cards are not recommended for use with reverse transfer-style printers or when lamination is necessary.
